Three routes · one island

The trails

A short index of the journeys we run. Each is small-group, fully guided, and shaped by the land more than the calendar.

Fully guided throughout.

We offer three trails. The difference between them is mostly how many nights you sleep under canvas versus under a roof, and how many hours per day you spend on foot.

All of them are fully guided, all of them include transport, meals, camping kit, and the visa process. None of them are first-class. Socotra doesn't really do first-class.

Visas, permits, transport, meals and camping kit are included.

The Uncharted Path⌖ Camp · Hadibo
3 nights camping · 1 night hotel

The Uncharted Path

The iconic loop. You sleep in the Diksam highland forest, on a wild beach, and on a coastal cliff. Three different ecosystems in three nights, and you finish with a real bed in Hadibo before the flight home.

Suited to travelers comfortable with simple camping. We provide all kit. The pace is steady but unhurried; most days include 2–4 hours of walking and a long break in the heat of the day.

  • Diksam plateau dawn among the dragon trees
  • Detwah lagoon swim and snorkel
  • Dihamri marine reserve
  • Hayf dunes at sunset
The Base Camp⌖ Hotel · Hadibo
4 nights at the hotel

The Base Camp

Your hotel in Hadibo is the anchor. We day-trip out to the highlights and you sleep in a bed each night. Suited to travelers who would rather not camp, or to families.

The pace is gentler. You see most of the same things, with less time on the trail and more time recovering.

  • Dragon blood forest day trip
  • Beach picnic at Shoab
  • Cave swim at Hoq
  • Local market in Hadibo
The Untamed Passage⌖ Full island loop
7 nights camping · 1 night hotel

The Untamed Passage

The full loop. Mountain, plateau, coast, and a stretch through the desert in the north. Seven nights under canvas; one final night in a hotel to land softly before the flight.

The deepest version we run. Travelers should expect basic camping conditions, some long walking days, and at least one stretch with limited washing facilities.

  • Haggier mountain high camp
  • Multi-day coast loop in the south
  • Stargazing dawn from Diksam
  • Bedouin tea around the fire
Field notes
On accommodation

Accommodation on Socotra is simple and locally run. These are modest island guesthouses, not international resorts. Clean, welcoming, and true to the place.

On itineraries

Itineraries can change with the weather, the terrain, the group, or a guide's call on the day. We stick to known routes, but we leave room to follow something unexpected.

Pick a trail. We'll take it from there.
